No but how can one forget about the prophecy that Joseph made about black believers. "They shall become whiter than snow when they believe."

Wrong, just one more prophecy of Smith that had to be changed in the book of Mormon. I think the Mormon's have made over 3000 revisions since it was originally written.

Its always so convenient to just erase and rewrite your scripture, theology, and doctrines.

All the important claims of any religion are incredible, or I don't see what the point would be. The idea that a man could be crucified and then rise from the grave after three days is antecedently incredible. If you could explain a "miracle" in any ordinary way, it wouldn't be a miracle.

So yeah, the Mormons make claims abut Joseph Smith that might sound a little nuts; but that's par for the course.

And the thumbs down begin. Look, I'm not even putting this forward as a reason not to believe. In fact, it's the only reason TO believe. What's so special about Jesus? He was born of a virgin, performed miracles, died for our sins and was resurrected, etc. All the important claims of religion are absurd by definition - and that's the point.

If you think it reflects badly on mormonism then you obviously do not understand what it means. As we all know Joseph Smith was perfect and God's chosen prophet. Do you know how hard a time I had typing this without bursting out laughing? I seriously bet mormons wish they could go back in time and tell Old Joe to shut up sometimes.

By Mormons Joseph Smith is considered to be a modern-day prophet who was called by God to restore " true Christianity" to the earth after centuries of apostasy.

Through the LDS church views the many Christian denomination as proof that Christ's " One True Church" was lost, numerous LDS splinter groups exist The second larges of these groups is the Community of Christ ( known originally as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or RLDS )

Additionally, numerous "fundamentalist" LDS groups believe that the Utah-based LDS church itself become apostate when it officially renounced polygamy in 1890.

I have heard that the Mormon apostle Bruce McConkie also declared that " all men in the latter days must turn to Joseph Smith to gain salvation," and that Joseph Smith aided God the father in the creation of the earth.

That is pretty outrageous. I do not get it how any person can believe that! Mormons!

Mormon prophet Brigham Young and his counselor, George Q. Cannon, both insisted that the only way a latter-day Saint could hope to enter the highest level of Mormon heaven ( the celestial kingdom ) was if he had Joseph Smith's permission.

I listen to LDS church general conference every session and often heard Joseph Smith spoken of with gratitude for what he sacrificed to bring this faith about. So, yes.

No one needs Joseph Smith's permission to go to heaven. You need to acknowledge the atonement of Christ and take his name upon you and keept the commandments to do that.

It sounds a lot like something Jesus commented about in the Bible

38 ¶ And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
