Yes, but not very gracefully. The only fly short distances, and not high. If you think you see a turkey flying or soaring, it is a turkey buzzard.

Wild turkeys can fly some, not like a hawk or anything, they just get high enough to get into trees. Domestic turkeys don't fly, in fact most of the time they never use their wings

Ben Franklin thought the North American wild turkey should be the national bird. Of course, the turkey of his day was nothing like the domesticated descendants we know today. The wild turkey of Ben Franklin's day was a brightly plumed, cunning bird of flight. Unlike eagles, turkeys live in flocks. Imagine seeing a flock of birds as large as turkeys flying across the sky. It must have been a wondrous sight. Wild turkeys have longer necks and legs as well as smaller breasts than turkeys bred for the table. The true American turkey was "wild and wary to the point of genius," Today's turkeys are domesticated and are now bread to produce more white meat. in other words....BIGGER AND FATTER, so, then its no wonder, that turkeys, especially tame ones, cannot fly !

Yes WILD turkeys fly, I have a friend that has one that sleeps on his roof peak every night, as for the turkey you buy from the grocery store I'm pretty sure they can't fly anymore because of the genetic altering and stuff.....

I just heard on NPR this morning that the majority of the turkeys we eat for Thanksgiving have been genetically modified so much that they do not fly any longer. They also have all white feathers so their skin won't get discolored.

Wild turkey can and do fly. Tame one do not fly well, because they are bred to have a heavier breast.
