Have you ever considered that it might be because some people consider themselves BRITISH rather than English, Scots, Welsh or (N) Irish? If England play Scotland, Wales or Ireland at rugby, cricket ot any other sport, I'll stick with England, 'cos that's where I was born. Same goes if Yorkshire play Kent or Surrey or Hampshire at cricket. I was born within 6 miles of Ilkley Moor.
You know who the "Jocks", "Micks" and "Taffs" would be supporting, do you? I know quite a it about people from these countries and your post is despicable.
You obviously have no concept of the idea of GREAT BRITAIN, or of any of the concepts involved. Crawl away into your nasty little racist hole please.

sure, I help the assumption. As an Englishman i'm no longer scared to declare the assumption of the united kingdom exchange into to place the divided countries of england jointly to construct the backbone for an empire. Now the empire has long previous, the union does not have a objective and it is obvious by way of fact the upward thrust of placed up-imperial poverty has divided the country in college and native residing standards (i'm from the North East of england by potential of how) by way of fact the aristocrats and political elite nonetheless hang directly to the wealth that is left. (i do no longer favour aristocracy or political elitism)

Well I think it is because Scotland could have got some were today and after all we are all part of the United Kingdom are we not. I think the question you should really ask is why do we English all support St Paddys day, But when it comes to ST GEORGE day we haven't got a clue.

well, i know a lot of people who werent supporting scotland, but i think it mostly comes down to britain vs the world.
its the same thing with the champions league, i might be the exception but when a british team is playing a non-british team i support the british team, even if normally they would be my clubs rivals.
as for why scots dont want enlgland to do well, maybe its just banter, maybe they have a pure hatred of england. i dunno.
