If it's bothering you then it's a problem. Focus on finding activities to do on your own. When the urge to compete strikes you distract yourself with one of those activities. Be sure to take time alone and get a breather.

I have a set of mirror-image twins that are 20, they live there lives separately now, but when they are home they are inseparable. Sometimes it's good to be inseparable, but there are times you just need to let go. If you feel like you can't breathe then maybe it's time that you starting doing somethings without each other. The bond will still be there even if you don't spend every moment together. Both of mine have joined different branches of the military and still manage to communicate with each other. They spend time together when they are both home and the time is even more special for them now that they are not together all the time. When they were in school everything was a competition to them, I figure it was because they had to try and prove that they were two individuals, now everything is not a competition. Try to slowly ease the idea to your twin that maybe you need to explore other situations. Since you are 22 why not find an apartment or something, go away to college anything like that.

It's not unusual for identical twins to be as close as you and your sister are. If you feel it's exhausting and is smothering you there's no reason you can't find some way to show your individuality. Have you talked to your sister about this and does she feel the same way you do? You may be surprised that she does. Think about which part is the most exhausting and just find ways to do things differently. Don't be afraid to be you. Even though you're identical twins you are still each very unique in your own way. Just find that uniqueness and polish it up so it shows through.

As long as you're not sexually close then it's fine.
We all look at ourselves in the mirror and wish we could be someone else, and I guess that you look at your identical twin like she's a mirror, and see what you'd want to change.
Not many people are as lucky as you. I don't think it's unhealthy, I think it's perfectly fine.

If the relationship is not comfortable to you, someone needs to put some distance between the two of you. It looks like it's up to you to move out and spend more time being independent. You can always be close but don't let it choke the life out of you.

It sounds unhealthy for you. "too intimate", "can't breathe", "inseperable", "exhausting".
Just listen to yourself and do what you need to do.
