OK this woman and a male friend were raped by 7 men in Saudi Arabia. The rapist were initially given 2 years. After outrage, they were increased to 10 years. The womans sentence was doubled. Yes she was guilty of meeting a man she was not related, she now get 6 months in jail and 200 lashes.

What do you think of this sentence. The fact that this is the law propogated by the keepers of the Islamic faith. I am especially interested in what muslims have to say.

Looking forward to your answers and thanks for answering!

Yeah I know its the law of the land and she knew it when she broke it. But there is a history of people fighting unjust laws. But do you feel the law is just. Islam is supposed to be about justice, is this justice? I am especially interested in what muslims think.

I like the first answer and I think that correctly answers the question. It just doesn't just tell you what muslims have to say but what muslims around the world think. Anything you don't like, just invade, destroy a country and ask senate for billions of dollars to build what was destroyed..

The law of the land has to be abided by, there is so much of Sanity in following laws of land. Like when in USA don't attract any attention especilly when on flights and when you are a muslim.

Just imagine if a women was raped when found alone with another man. Imagine what will happen if she wears some american wear (free will) in public.

Back to the Point: She knew the law and she broke it. Breaking law (good or bad) is wrong. If you have strength and guts fight the bad laws. But never break laws.

Most laws are religion based, including the U.S. Muslim law sounds just as odd to us, as Christianity sounded to the Native Americans when we invaded their Country. If history continues to repeat itself, we will inflict our culture on the Middle East soon enough. You and I have little right to question the laws of other Nations, when celebrities go to jail for an hour for the same crime that any other citizen would be sentenced to months, if not years in jail. We have enough to fix in the U.S. before we question the treatment of people in other Countries. But, it always makes home look better, when we can point out how bad things are elsewhere.....Every Woman should thank God they live in the U.S.-----NOT

Its sad what happened, but she still broke the law. Saudi Arabia is a different thing, yes they're sexist and they don't follow true Islam which is giving rights to women.

To the guy who says Egyptian women are forcibly circumcised where did you get that kind of information? Don't believe all you hear or see and get your facts straight!

That is horrible, and did you note that the article said that the judge revoked her lawyer's legal license? The judge is trying to use that lawyer as an example to frighten others away from speaking out against injustice.

She was not sentenced for being raped. She was sentenced for meeting a man that she was not related to and without a chaperon. But no matter how stupid the law is, she knew the law and broke the law. I hate it too and I don't believe that she should have been punished either, but she did break the countries law and must suffer the penalty of jail. I have been to many many different countries and you must follow their laws, whether you believe them to be just or not.

What happened to the man that was raped? I supposed he was taken to the hospital and looked after and everyone felt sorry for him. Meanwhile the woman is taken off to jail and given 200 lashings. This is outrageous!!

And to think I thought the crazy Judge in Denton Tx who let a murderer go free on "postcard probation" and also gave a man life in prison for smoking one joint was nuts and showed how bad our laws in America are.

That's par for the course for Islam... the founder of Islam, Muhammad (pissbeuponhim) was himself one of history's premiere rapists- and as a so called 'spiritual leader' he expressed no remorse for all the rapes he committed (including child rape).

In fact, he magically conjured up revelations from 'allah' allowing himself the rights to do whatever he pleased, whatever his lusts wanted.

one of many convincing arguments is presented here:
