I've heard that the PS3 makes quite a bit of heat, and I'm getting one either tomorrow or Monday...

A LOT of people have told me not to buy the intercooler that goes on the back of it, so I don't want to do that.

But I have a small table fan that could fit on my TV stand, and I am thinking I could put that behind the PS3 and turn it on while I'm playing it, just to keep it kind of cool.

Would that be OK?

no, it can break it. Just leave it lying flat, preferably on top a book, with nonthing sitting directly next to it.

ok, it would want to help the air stream around the ps3 to assist with overheating, yet you even ought to think concerning the air high quality interior the room. I stay in an section the position no count number number how a lot I sparkling, there is continually an inordinate quantity of dirt. blowing air laced with a set of dirt into your vents is genuinely a nasty concept as each person who's ever had the excitement of cleansing dirt bunnies out of electronics. ideally having a fan and an air purifier might want to be good. As for the exterior fan instruments that are offered which declare to blow/suck the nice and comfortable air remote from the PS3, ignore about them. I have used each and each and every one and the PS3 runs cooler with out them.

that is 100% ok to do. as long as the fan isnt HITTING the ps3 its perfectly ok to circulate the air near it.

The dude who says it could damage the system dosent know what he is talking about.

the moving air would help to pull a small ammount of heat away from the unit. Like everyone else said, as long as there is room around the unit, you should be fine. a fan wont hurt either

PS3 is getting warm during working. It's OK. Just make sure that walls are at least 10cm from PS3. Don' buy intercoolers - they make everything worse.

As long as there's plenty of air around your PS3 and it's not next to a heater it should be fine. It's designed to keep itself cool when it needs to.
