Leos like to be complimented. However, I'm a leo, and I don't care for shallow compliments, like,"You have such nice hair." I have even cut all my hair off in an ugly-as-can-be sort of way for those kind of compliments. So, I'd recommend asking him about things he likes to talk about and complimenting him by getting to know him as a person and throw in an occasional shallow compliment unless you really can't help yourself. If that's hard to do, just look at him, and take a guess at what he likes, and then ask him if he likes whatever your guess is.
