I have 2 house cats that got fleas from a friend of mine that was sleeping at my house while her place got treated for a flea infestation...unfortunately they are becoming a problem for me, my husband and my cats! I wouldn't mind setting off smoke bombs but i sleep during the day and my husband sleeps at night. Are there any powders or sprays I can put all over the apartment while my cats and I are sleeping in the bedroom without worry of getting sick from the fumes?

With a flea bomb you only have to be out of the house for two hours. ( just so you know.)

Many people use apple cider vinegar and water mixture and spray everything. This works great around the corners and under the couch where a bomb may not get.

Cut up a flea collar and vacuum the house well. Even the walls. This works with bag or canister vacuums.

Water with a tsp of dawn soap under a light at night. Can be any light like a night light or a desk lamp.

Walk around in white socks and see if you took care of the issue. They are seen more easily on white socks.

vinegar in a bowl under the couch and bed. Takes smells out ad detours fleas from laying eggs.

Ok well i had gotten my cat from outside and she has gotten fleas also. Well here is the cheapest and safest way. And it works. Use Some cat shampoo for their fur it keeps they're coat shiny and healthy. Its Flea and Tick Removal Shampoo. It will not be easing giving a cat a bath so try to wash them once at a time. After that spray the room down with Some Flea Killer Spray you can get this at FOODLION. Spray it in the area that the cats mostly been in. After that do not let the cats go back into the room after you've sprayed. Let it ware off until u enter the room. The fleas on the cat should be dead so buy a collar just in case any other fleas try to jump out of the room. Put a towel under the door when you spray it, so that this way the fleas cant get out. After you do this everything should be fine
Good Luck!

You can get a spray from the vets. You treat the upstairs of the house, and the place can be aired after about 2 hours of application, You then do the same with the downstairs of the house. Don't use powders or 'bombs' - or anything from pet stores. There's just no need for them, and they're not effective.

Obviously you need to treat the cats properly as well - recommend Frontline, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate.

At the pet store (Petsmart for me), I got some powder called "Natural Defense", that you sprinkle on your carpets(no fumes...smells great). It has natural oils in it, and if you also get rid of the fleas on your cats (NEW product that REALLY WORKS is called Promeris .. for cats --vet's only!), you should be rid of them soon. I have 10 cats in my house, and the dog brought fleas in. I tried Frontline (for cats), Biospot (for cats) and neither of those worked. Then, I got the Capstar tablet (kills fleas immediately) for my dog, and the Promeris for everyone(they now have it for dogs, too). I put the Promeris on the cats right after I got home and in a few days the flea problem was almost eliminated. After I dosed the carpeting, and the fleas stopped coming in w/dog, I have NO MORE fleas ...on anybody. Check into these three things.....Capstar ($6 per tab), Promeris ($32 for 6 doses)at vet, and the carpet stuff (don't remember the cost/Petsmart). Good luck.................and don't let your friend bring her flea-ridden pets back. Tell her about this stuff, and have her put it on her cats, too.

Front Line is the best I've found. You can buy it at your vet or at a pet store. Just follow the instructions and the fleas will be gone in a matter of days.

Front Line is good stuff. Very effective. Hit the cats with that. Then at the same time wash all bedding, etc that may have been contaminated. Clean carpets too, etc. That will likely do the job, and help you avoid having to use wide spread pesticides.

deal along with your cats with some thing like Frontline. Use a flea spray like bengal to kill the grownup fleas. Sprinkle Boric Acid on your carpets and furniture, paintings into the carpets and furniture then vacuum up extra. Boric Acid will kill the flea larva, sprays and bombs do no longer kill the larva.

put moth balls in your vacuum cleaner bag. it kills the fleas and their eggs. they smell while you run the vacuum, but it goes away soon after you stop.
