Your mom sounds like a real b****. Moms are supposed to love their children, no matter what, ESPECIALLY their weight. I wouldn't listen to your mom so much, you're not really overweight. Guys like girls with meat on their bones, anyways.
But here, try these things:
Try eating more fruits and veggies in place of other fatty meals, like junk food, cookies, or high calorie meals. I'm a vegetarian, too. And I'm also a picky eater. I eat a lot of grapes, clemintines, apples (with vanilla yogurt), blueberries, microwave broccoli, carrots, whole wheat toast, granola bars, melon, etc.
I recently just tried Hummus, and I was surprised! It's actually really good! I thought it would taste so nasty, but it's actually delicious, better than most junk food. Try flavored ones like Garden Vegetable or Tomato, with some reduced fat Wheat Thins or "Food Should Taste Good" brand multigrain chips.
Incorporate more exercise into your daily life. Take the dog for a 20 minute walk, do jumping jacks while watching TV, do laps around the block, or the house for that matter. Don't let yourself sit down for too long.
And don't eat out of boredom! It's a nasty habit to break, TRUST ME. Whenever you feel like eating, watch a movie with no commercial breaks so you don't have time to get up, call a friend, read a book or magazine, or get out of the house, away from the food.
I recently lost weight, about 20 lbs, and what really helped for me was planning my meals. I planned when and what I was going to eat, and made sure the calorie count was 1400. And don't let yourself stray from your plan.
And allow yourself a cheat day every now and then. Life is too short!
Hope that helps (:

Sorry but it's none of your mom's business whether you are a size 8/9 or a size 4/5. Having big hips is not a health issue, so I think your mom is majorly overrreacting. It sounds like she has mental health issues. Sorry if that's harsh but she sounds very obsessive and controlling to me. I'd trick her into going to the doctors about your weight and then tell the doctor exactly what your mom's been doing. Hopefully he can then talk some sense into her and get her a referral to a therapist for her control issues and maybe some parenting classes as well.
She shouldn't be pushing HER issues on to YOU. She needs to know it's NOT acceptable. It's better to nip it in the bud now than to wait for things to get worse.
If you want to be a size 4, that's fine, but never lose weight for anyone else. And one more thing, going from a size 8/9 to a 4/5 is only dropping 2 sizes, not 5!

oh honey thats sad.....im a size 9 too. i weigh the same 135 but IM 5'6" dont worry about the pant size so much...i would say for your height aim for 10lbs then see how you feel..
exercise is probably the most important thing for you to do...get 30min. of aerobic exercise per day and try to do some weight lifting too. build up your muscle mass. also you gotta eat right otherwise you may not be able to lose too much with exercise alone. you have to do both. just eat healthier more water less soda less fast food..ehh its so gross and bad for you...cut out the fried food. since you dont eat meat....are you getting protein from other sources. im not sure how that works. i would tell your mom if shes really concerned take you to a dietician. so she can recommend a healthy eating plan especially since you dont eat meat....
if your doing this cuz ur mom told you your fat it will be hard to stick with it. you have to do this because you really want to....good luck to you......

Boy, I think how your mom is acting is horrible. Size nine is okay. She could cause an eating disorder by her behavior! Just eat healthy and exercise reasonably. If it doesn't come off, oh well. You are not fat.

YOU CAN START BY MAKING YOURSELF MORE ACTIVE. ITS ALL ABOUT LITTLE STEPS YOU TAKE THAT CAN CHANGE DIFFERENT HABITS. EXAMPLE REDUCE YOUR CALORIE INTAKE BY DRINKING MORE WATER INSTEAD OF SUGAR DRINKS.
