we have a jvc lcd television this grey box tells you the connection like hdmi1. when it is on digital channels it does not show a grey box. but what is really annoying is the connection box shows while a dvd is playing we have tried everything and still the box shows. does anyone have any idea?
LoL don't say buy a new television we've only purchased it today and other than the silly conection box it's a brilliant tv

on most tv controls theres usually a button for the osd(on screen display) i.e clock,channel number etc,i dont know this tv,but study the manual regarding osd functions,it may be there

I haven't looked at a bunch of new remotes lately, but back inj the olden days it was a button called "display"

Did you do the most common thing -
Ignore the instructions manual - try reading them.
Failing that - press each button until it goes - then you'll know
