I'm taking my fiance out for a really romantic meal tonight, its not really expensive, prob around £30, but what is better when taking someone out for a meal paying by cash or by card?

card, cash is certainly vulgar, its is dirty. now a man of class never handles change, never. That is an absolute certainty, if a woman ever sees you dig for exact change you can give up being with her as it is the most undignified thing on earth. also, if you pay with a card, you can be discreet as a woman you are entertaining should not know how much you are spending on her.

Card for multiple reasons. First it is more polite because you are not flaunting the Cash. Second it shows them that you dont care how much money they spend on dinner you just want to make them happy. Third it is more polite to the waiter as it makes it easier for him/her to run the bill (dont forget to give atleast a 20% tip, if you are really happy then a 25% tip). Fourth it is more polite for the people waiting to be seated after you because you get done with the whole thing faster

It's not a matter of whether cash is more polite than card or vice versa. If you have a card, and by using the card earns you points for rewards etc, then use the card. Use cash if the establishment doesn't accept cards.

If you are doing a nice romantic dinner, then this is the last thing in the world you should think about. Think about your fiance and what will make that person happy and enjoy the night. How you pay will not matter a hill of beans to that person.
How you are going to pay is not important. Concentrate on the important stuff.

I would say that it doesn't matter too much what you pay with....just as long as you enjoy your meal and pay for it (instead of doing a runner). I think that paying by card is convenient, but I think that if you enjoyed your meal, and the waiter or waitress did a good job then tipping them with cash would show you appreciation

If it it's not too expensive then pay with cash. Because it doesn't look right when you use a card when it is only a small amount. I work as a front desk/clerk at a printing shop. And your situation right now reminded me of a lady who used her card to pay for faxed which is only $ 2.00. I mean c'mon you can't pay a 2.00 in cash. It's just looks wrong. So I suggest using cash when it is not a huge amount. But if it is over $50 then it is alright to use your card. Hope you guys have a great night! Good Luck

Do you actually believe those commercials about The one person who pays by cash, and slows down the whole proccess. come on, gimme a break! All to sell Credit Cards!!!
I'm strictly a cash person.

No difference except if you pay cash the person knows how much has been spent. But credit cards are a big con anyway. I wouldn't use them because they(owned by the big banks) charge extortionate interest charges.

Paying by cash maybe quicker, as you have to wait for the card to be returned. As for being polite, neither has anything to do with politeness - unless you don't have enough cash on hand...

Cash because you can be more discreet. She shouldn't know how much the meal cost.
