I took my cat to the vet when he was about 4 months old. I was told he has a heart murmur. He's now a year old. How can i tell if its getting worse? When he gets hyper or playful he starts breathing verrry heavy. Should i get him back into the vet?

If you can do it I would get a refferal to a veterinary cardiologist. There are medications that can help and you need a good diagnosis of the problem.

If there is a veterinary school within reasonable distance from you that might be a place to go if there is no specialist locally.

I agree with "LB". The cats heavy breathing is a lung issue, not
a heart murmur problem. I personaly think the cat has an asthmatic problem. If the cat is very important to you,as is it's
playing, i would have it at the vets asap to see if a test is
viable and follow up with medication!!!

Your cat needs yearly check up anyway. Be sure to ask the vet to check her heart for any change. She may need to not play a rough to protect her heart. Heavy breathing is a sign she is having problems oxygenating her blood because her heart or lungs are not working correctly.
