It's not cooking with the oven that's unhealthy. However, if you are only using it to nuke prepared foods high in fat and sodium then it is very unhealthy
If you want to use the oven to prepared some nice meals, Barbara Kafka has a great cookbook called the microwave gourmet that has some very good and healthful recipes.

My first microwave was bought in 79, it was a Kenmore. I used it for almost 25 yrs. When I moved, and took it to our new home, I guess the ride, did it in, as it didn't work after plugging it bit the dust. I really liked that microwave, but sometimes we have to let go of things that no longer serve a purpose. ;)

I got my first micro back in 1980. I have been microwaving food for all that time and it doesn't seem to effect my family very much. I don't use it for cooking every day,,,but I do use it for reheating every day...I use it to steam veggies,,,bake potatoes,,,make popcorn,,,,,My DH uses it everyday to reheat coffee,,,which grosses me out,,,but he seems fine, other than this odd thing about drinking old coffee... : )
