I am in the military (U.S. Navy stationed in Bahrain) and I have opened up a business about three months ago that is netting me $21K/month. Can I request separation under the "Convenience of the Government" Rule?

Only if it is convenient to the government...and it won't be.

You need to be making a lot more money than that for them to boot you as a possible disciplinary problem.

You can request it, but odds are it won't be approved unless your monthly income goes up by another zero. I know quite a few enlisted who run their own businesses and make way more that way than they do in military pay.

doubtful. If the Navy still needs you( and they probably do) than it won;t be convenient for them to let you get out.

you don't say whether you are Enlsited or Officer.. if you are E, then finish out your term and do not Re-up. If you are O, finish your commitment and resign.

Finish up your time and then get out. Then you'll have a successful bussiness and qualify for vetrans benefits. You signed a contract and you should honor it.
