Have you called the vet who treated her? It's perfectly acceptable to have a follow-up call. In fact, the vet should want to know what happened to his patient after he treated it.

Also, have you asked the vet how much a follow-up visit would cost? When my dog used to get ear infections all the time they didn't charge for follow-up visits after the initial treatment and visit.

You should contact the vet immediately. If you pet is not better the vet should see the pet w/o a fee. The vet should have given the dog a dewormer and not an antibiotic. Sometimes you can see the worms in the dogs stool as well. If you can not get in touch with the vet, call or go by the Human Society. You do not want you pet to become dehydrated.

Hookworms are very serious and can kill your dog. They are also very hard to get rid of. I don't think that antibiotics are what your dog needs. They can sneeze them out of their nose and you can get them (I think). Do some research on the interent and the correct cure should be there. Whenever a vet or even a doctor prescribes meds for you or your animal, always check out what you have been given and the side effects. Ultimately, you are responsible because if they make a mistake, you are the one that has to deal with it. I don't know where you are, but try calling and asking your vet-after you do the research - and tell him what is happening to your dog and tell him you are broke. He may well take payments or he may just help you out. Most vets are pretty good people but they have to make a living too. But if he gave antibiotics for any type of worm, I would wonder if I didn't understand the meds or the vet doesn't understand the cure-so be careful and listen exactly to what he says. If you can get no help there, try a local animal rights group like a Humane Society or SPCA. They may be able to help you out. Don't be afraid to barter. Many groups survive on donations so they don't have a lot of cash, but offer to make payments and if they suggest a vet, go to that one. Don't wait around, the sooner you get help for your dog the better and easier it will be to cure him.
And also call your vet anyway and be sure to tell him/her what problems your dog is having. They can tell you if that is right or within reason. They may have given him something to make your dog rid himself of the worms. And again, be sure to listen and remember exactly what the vet says. It's hard to do if you're upset but repeat it back to the vet if you have to so that you have it straight and remember exactly what to do. I get so excited when an animal is sick sometimes I just don't remember exactly what is said and I have taught myself to calm down and listen. It's important for your animal and for you. Hope it all works out OK. Much luck.

Have you told the vet who prescribed these what's happening? You need to! Otherwise how can they help further? And how will you get proper advice?
