The details we have sofar are having a costume party reception, a candy buffet, mini pumpkins as placecards and using Halloween-ish dvds (the Crow, Brothers Grimm, Sleepy Hollow, Van Helsing, etc) as table numbers.

What ideas would you suggest or use if you were doing this?

You and your fiance should dress up in costume, maybe themed. Black and burnt orange colors would work. Or Red and black (if you're going for more goth than halloween).

If you're planning on having kids at the wedding, probably a pumpkin-carving station so kids can entertain themselves.

Jack-o-lantern centerpieces. Or maybe gravestones.

Halloween music (The Monster Mash, etc)

A haunted house wedding cake... http://www.sweetstodreamon.com/files/Wild_About_Houston_Halloween_cake.jpg
Or something gothic, with more black and reds...gothic style designs. Corpse bride topper (or frankenstein monster and bride of frankenstein topper)

These are a few suggestions. I've always wanted to go to a halloween-themed wedding, it'd be amazingly fun!

My friend had a halloween wedding, they had a giant inflatable spider over the dance floor, it was actually really cool and not tacky looking at all. (I was wary when she told me about it)

I have to say though, I wouldnt dress up in a costume for a wedding and getting my husband to dress up would be even harder, so be prepared for people like me who wouldnt do it and if it was mandatory, I'd decline the invitation. Maybe you could take a poll of your friends and family to see how they feel about the idea before you go ahead and plan around that idea, just to be safe. Who knows, your group may be totally into the idea and it might be awesome(which I hope because its what you want to do), but knowing my group that idea wouldnt fly.

Best of luck!

I guess you could say my wedding is sorta gothic in a sense , I am having a spring wedding at the "Myrtles plantation." In louisiana the grounds are stunning ! but the place is really really haunted. You will see stuff there.

You may reasearch some local known haunted houses or places that have a history of hauntings in you area. or have destination wedding.

While we were taking pic of the location for the wedding to document the grounds we heard light music playing in the woods??? like a music box then and all three of us heard it ..... .in several pics we had at three differant times and differant angles of the front of the house there was red orb looking things.......... and the big one was took a pic of the front of the hosue and saw two transparent men looking at us out the window. looked to be dressed in 1700 clothes.

what we are doing is a offical guest count and a UN official guest count.

I am doing this, date is 10/31/2009.
masquerade (masks) instead of costumes (you never know how people will dress) - if you supply them, they could also be your favors. Stephen King novels instead of your DVD ideas. "Time Warp" instead of chicken dance.
