I have shingles that pop up from time to time, but i have never had a rash (or at least i have never noticed one). I haven't found anything that helps with the sensitivity and nerve sensations - i usually just have to stay home for a few days so i don't have clothes rubbing the affected area. Prednisone is sometimes prescribed for the nerve sensations, but it has some nasty side effects.

I feel you r pain and discomfort. i have had some relief by applying maximum strength "Capzasin HP" ( available at most drug stores as OTC) up to 3 times daily and leaving it exposed until absorbed. It works by gradually blocking the pain nerve receptors in the area. I definitely know it has worked on my diabetic neuropathy for my feet.
