I haven't taken them to the off leash dog park for this reason too.

Once I am at the gate and they are too my male will howland bark and my female growls. so I end up taking them back home and bringing the little dog cause she won't bark or growl at the other dogs. She will just go in and rund and play to her hearts content.

My male has played with other dogs and didn't howl or bark at them but they were his family and had seem them before.

I want to be able to let them rplay off leash at the dog park but I don't want them to cause a dog fight either.

I have been working with both of them to listen better to me. Just yesterday I let my female walk around my yard with me not holding her leash and she was fine and didn't run off. I even let her walk to the door with out me holding the leash and took the leash off and she stayed right there until i opened the door.
My male isn't ready for that yet but one day he will be.

Catch 22 situation. They need the exercise and the socialisation, but every time they are offered the opportunity, they 'sadly' are pulled away and not allowed to participate with what they are desperately are yearning to do and which of course is natural to the dogs.

It's a bit like holding a delicious meal in front of a person who is starving and then taking it away from them, as soon as they get a sniff of the aroma.

Your best bet, if you can, is to try and walk them in the woods somewhere. I do not know if this is possible, or tire them by training them at home for a half hour first. Giving them plenty treats after lots of behaviours. The only way to stop the barking is to let them off the lead. If you can't, this behaviour will only stop after a long period of time, because the dogs give up. Squirting the lemon from the barking control collar can help, but usually only if you use the expensive variety.

Training is the obvious answer and which you already are doing. Try and find a place where there are no other dogs and they can run. You may need to use anti-social hours to try this, like when it is dark or very early in the morning. Then day time you go to the park and because they had a good walk already, they are less likely to bark when you let go off the lead.

I walked 6 dogs and first thing when they jump out of the car, they are excited. It lasts half a minute and they get on with the business of sniffing. I do have to keep my eyes on them and avoid other walkers when I start the walk, but I am fortunate in that I take them to places where I know I can avoid such face to face contact or at least until the end of the walk.

When I want them quiet, they know and control their antics, till I give the word 'off you go', which is followed by a few mad minutes. Try and remember the natural tendencies of what excites a dog and concentrate on these. Sex being the hardest to control.

Many humane societies and shelters are offering what they call "Growler" or "Grumpy Growler" classes. I have heard many good thing about these classes. Google for a class in your area. The class generally has only 5 or 6 dogs and teaches them to respond properly to other dogs. The right trainer really can can help. Don't give up.

I watch a dog trainer on T V named Ceaser, he is really good. One thing he said before you take your dog to a dog park, wear him out first walk him for 30 minutes before you go. But if your dogs are aggressive they may need to be trained first.

Everytime he growls tell him to stop and don't let him into the park until he stops. Turn him around and take him back home.

Have you read Cesar's Way? I just read a bit and maybe the book has something a pet's owner need to know about how to behave and teach his/her pet how to behave.
