I know it's tempting to try to get a credit card just to get through the holidays- but you're already in a hole, you need to start digging yourself out, not creating more debt.
Make a list of everything you owe and start prioritizing. Tackle the most important ones and pay what you can. Pay off the smallest bills and snowball that into a bigger payment for the next bill.
Do NOT create more debt!!!!! Cut up your cards, write yourself a budget and STICK TO IT. There is a way out.

Please DO NOT get a Payday loan. I have several of these only because my house was going into foreclosure and I needed money very quickly. This was 6 months ago and I still haven't been able to pay them off yet! Once I do get them paid, I will NEVER go this route again. It is going to take me forever. But, I know how you feel. I had a very difficult time trying to find someone to lend me any money. Still trying. Once you get things caught up you will be ok. They don't understand that concept for some reason. Talk to your creditors and pay whatever you can. Even if it is just a small amount. At least they can see that you are trying to resolve the matter. Good Luck. I am in the same boat with ya.

The first thing i would say is that you shouldn't get a payday loan, with the high interest rates, you will never be able to pay it back. Second, I see that you contact social services, but have you tried any local charities? Here is the number and address for one in NY, it is called Chatholic Charities, but it is not segregated
Address: 1011 First Avenue, 10th Floor
City: New York
State: NY
ZIP Code: 10022
Phone: (212) 371-1000
Web Site: http://www.catholiccharitiesny.org/
I have heard that they have been very helpful to alot of people with utilities and other bills, and maybe with some other stuff.

You are at high risk of defaulting and that attracts vultures. There are debt counselors that can help you manage your money better and consolidate your debts, but anyone offering you money or credit in your hands will make you sign a contract you will regret later.

If you have no job you have no way of repaying. Payday loans are the bottom of the barrel, and the worst loans possible, if you cannot get one of those you are sunk. (even if you could get one would not advise taking it) Forget about the holidays work on getting the job, and paying your bills.
