Yes it's true. It's the theobromine in the chocolate that is lethal to dogs if they ingest too much chocolate. The darker the chocolate, the worse it is for them. You'll have to do some research on what amounts are toxic/lethal, but I think it's something like 1lb. of milk chocolate for a 20 lb dog, or just a couple ounces of dark or baking chocolate.

yes its true there is a stimulant in chocolate (cant remember what it is called) that can accelerate the dogs heart and cause a heart attack. It almost acts like a large dose of caffeine. Small amounts of chocolate wont hurt the dog like eating a cookie or something ( ON ACCIDENT dont give it to a dog on perpous) . The most deadly chocolate is bakers chocolate and dark chocolate.

also, any kind of pork is harmful to smaller dogs as well, my coworker fed her two dogs breakfast sausage, and they died, the vet told them to NEVER feed housepets pork!!!
