People have felt like this for different reasons for generations. It usually doesn't stop people from having children. This was pretty much the anthem of the 1960s.

yes it has. we are not having children - not so much global warming but more terrorism, gun and teenage crime, the fact we can no longer protect our children properly, more and more sexual predators, rising taxes, rising costs just to survive, the impossibility that they could probably ever afford to buy a house, social pressures, political issues, genetically modified foods, the confusing mixed messages given out to children from the manipulative media and a million other reasons. I would like children but don't think it's a good time to have children and feel better for not going down that path. it's a personal choice, if you're strong enough to have children in this world and raise them properly, to think for themselves and won't have a heart attack at 30 with the worry then i admire the strength and courage of those people - but I cannot do it.

You're concern is valid and I have thought about it. But then I realized that when you become a parent there are always concerns about the future. Whether it's global warming, nuclear war or mutant viruses - there are always going to be challenges and fear out there. I'd like to believe that my son (and baby to be) will be part of the solution to these problems.

I think that is a reason on some people's list. Most of us don't want kids because we had to raise a brothers, sisters, or cousins before we were old enough to handle the responsibility. Therefore we were finished parenting when we were 12 or so.

I already have kids and I raise them in fear because of more dangerous things than global warming, like drug addiction, alcoholism, gangs, dropping out of school and trouble with the law. I think young people have it alot harder than other generations. Good luck. Parenting today is alot harder.

What if your child was the one who had the answers to these problems?
I stopped at two. It seemed like a logical thing to do - have only as many needed to replace us when we die. While I don't believe in forced control of the population; a little self control couldn't hurt.

Climate change does not mean the whole world will turn into a desert.
It will just be ...different.
Climate on the earth has changed many times during it's existence. (for instance, the Sahara was once a lush , tropical, forest)
People will move, and adapt , as they have for millions of years.
As for children, I'm not having them for purely selfish reasons.
I don't like them, I don't want to deal with them or a husband....
