Wulfie, you are so wrong.
I ALWAYS LOVED WORKING. Being independent was always important. My first injury was back in 1986. I went Therapy as long as I could stand it but I was young and not worried about the long term effect. Now that I am older it has caught up with me. My first application for disability was in 2011. I was turned down so I went back to work.
All I did was damage my back moer and more until I couldn't take the pain anymore. Friends and family started noticeing that I was walking sideways. I didn't know I had Spondylolisthesis. It went on for 4 more years before I finally got a diagnosis.

SSI is just a temporary small monthly payment that only lasts for about 6 months, not perm disability status and disability payments.
Get together with your doc for one to see if they consider you disabled. Then a social worker referred by your doc, then your local social security office, and a social security lawyer. Go to www.ssa.gov and try to read the faq's on disability and qualifiing.
I never had a problem being apporved for anything. I have cancer. I am considered perm disabled, but my condition is treatable and livable.
My aunt was given less than a year to live, completly disablaed by her doc, and was refused every type of benefit. The key is getting in with a good social worker who actually cares.

Since denial of SSI payments is the first step you have to go through to receive disability, you are now one step ahead of the game. The next step is to file for disability. You might want to seek the advise of an attorney. I can almost guarantee you that it is going to take at least a year and possibly up to two.

Well you can have doctors fight SSI for you, but let me tell you a true story. My friend lost her arm from a tiger, she worked at a wild life refuge and SSI denied her the claim. They told her that she could find another job even with only one arm. Good luck fighting the government, that can be pains.

We all wish we didn't have to work.
You gotta find a jop to support yourself, or find someone to do that for you...
