My Dr has me on prednisone (10 mg AM ) and (10 mg PM) due to elevated sediment rate for possible imflammation. I am experiencing severe calf muscle cramping (while sleeping mostly) and I am not sure if it is being caused by the meds or just coincidence. Is this related to the meds or just my imagination?

Remedy: Stop taking it.

Yes, prednisone is a steriod.
It has bad side effects. Hostile behavior, aggresiveness, increased appetite... muscle cramps,
Did you get a print out from the pharmacy, where you got it filled? That will tell you or you can look here:

I have Arthritis, but have only been prescribed Prednisone for a chest infection. According to my Mother 'You were like the steel ball in a Pin Ball machine, bouncing around and off everything!' True I did managed to physically decorate most of the house, ceilings and walls, so was flying. Elevated sed rate can be due to many things, outside inflammation. Likewise are you now energetic, like I was, thereby over active hence the cramps? I hate to mention this but wait until you finish the course and what they call the steroid rebound, depending on how long you have to take the steroids. Good Luck

The few times I had to take prednisone it gave me terrible nightmares--the wake up screaming and sweating kind, totally disruptive. One of those things where the cure may honestly be worse than the disease! Steroids can work wonders but their side effects are numerous & varied. Definitely look at the printout from the pharmacy, and call your doctor if the cramps persist. Good luck.

the prednisone should not have such side effects.
i will recommend that you go back to your doctor and tell about it.
cramps are mostly due to electrolyte imbalance or calcium problems and it is better that your blood be test.
