Magic is the art of unlocking the rescources of the human mind. It is the art of changing conscousness at will. Once you have changed your consciousness, you'll learn to change reality. Any one can learn real magic, you don't have to be a witch, or even a pagan. Magic is not something you do, or make. It is something the universe does with you, it is our relationship to the divine. The things, spells, etc that witches use are just tools to help them connect with the universe. Read about quantum physics, and quantum reality.
Ignore those web sites that try to sell you spells, that doesn't work. It only works for the most gullible people, who will believe anything you tell them, and then it is their own minds that get results, not the online spell. If you are to travel a pagan path, you have to find in your own soul if that is what you really want to do. Read what you will, but learn to dismiss the nonsense, and believe me, there is a lot of it out there. Know about demonology, and know enough to stay away from it. The kind of witchcraft (spell casting on line etc,) you are talking about is for the most part, not real, a business like any other, and has no real sincerity. The ones that sell occult tools, however, are providing you with products that you need if you are a pagan, like any grocery store provides you with food. You don't even have to be a witch to run a store, just a retailer.
There are real witches out there, but they won't cheat you or take your money falsely. Find and read the Witch's Rede, and pay particular attention to the line about doing what ye will, an' harm none.
Blessed be, and may you always walk in light.

I try not to laugh at those who actually believe you can cast a spell, and make a million dollars, make instant rain, make someone fall in love with you.
As a Pagan, I am also a practacing Wiccan. Magic, (for the fluffies, magick, majick), is not saying a few words, (hocus pocus, ala-kazam), and pulling a bunny from a hat, nor is it blinking ones eyes, wiggling their nose, and *POOF* gems and gold coins appear, or you change appearences.
I do believe in magic, (and yes, I use the modern spelling, this is the 21st century not the 13th.), It is more in tune with prayers, than actual body movements and POOF, much the same as Christians pray to God, for peace on Earth, help with money, a sick person etc, etc. Spells work the same way.
I feel, when I say my spells, and perform a ritual, then I am tuning myself into the energies of the earth and the Lord and Lady. To them I am sending out a prayer for their help and guidance. Does it work, yes it does, in the fact that I have been given a raise at work, I have found lost items, some people that I have spelled for have recovered quicker than usual. And NO, it is not an instantaious effect. While I was given a raise at work, it was a week or so after my ritual and it was a unplanned raise by my boss. So yes it does work.
As for those who seek to make a profit off the gullible, well, there are a whole range of televangelists that do the same, faith healing, curing the infirmed and sick on a stage. Offering to say prayers, and have masses said for them. Sadly, scammers run in every religion.
I hoped this helped. Oh, an I do not charge for services...lol

I've seen people selling spells too. They're scam artists. They take gullible peoples' money and run.
Witchcraft does work, but not from a spell that's been bought online. Real Witches know better than to buy spells. They know that the best spell is one that they've written and cast themselves, not from some site or from some stupid internet book of shadows.
You can't cast spells to change the weather or your eye color, or other frivolous things. Witches are expected to help themselves, also. For example, if you need money and do a money spell, you can't just sit home and expect to win the lottery or for Ed McMahon to come and knock on your door with a big check. You have to do things like trying to get a job, selling stuff, etc. In other words, to be helped, you have to at least try to help yourself.
btw, just for the record, witchcraft is not evil like some of these other posters are saying.

It depends on what you put into a spell and how much you believe it will work.
It's raining solidly outside today. Can I work a spell to make it stop? Nope. Can I work a spell to make me feel less depressed about the weather? Probably, if I believe that it will work.
It's significantly easier to find a job than to find a successful money-making spell, unless of course you're selling one from a web-site, in which case it works just fine for the seller but not for the punter, who just gets poorer.
I'd imagine that not everyone selling spells is a deliberate fraud, but the remainder are probably self-deluded. You need to put the effort in yourself, not have someone do it remotely.
As for 'how' a spell works, remember that Arthur C Clark wrote in 1961 "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Thirty years ago much of the technology we take for granted today would have seemed 'magic'.

Magic is the directing of the energy around us, mainly our personal energy. We can't change the weather or anything you see on tv or movies. It's like if you are working hard on getting somewhere in your life you send out this energy to give you a boast. And I think if you believe in it then it's more likely to take shape or maybe it's just mind of matter type of thing. If you don't then you are destroying the energy around you already. It is what you make it.
And I have to say I find it horrible sad that I came to this group to be surrounded by people of similar beliefs and hopeful see some positive interaction and when I see some of the answers to this questions it just makes me angry. The level of ignorance in some people posting is just disgusting. Why be apart of a group that you don't believe in or have nothing nice to say about it.

Lol. Gee, I wonder if they *are* just taking your money? hahahah.
No, I don't believe in magic. I don't think it's possible, because if anything existed that went against the laws of physics, I think everybody on the planet would know about it and nobody would have any doubts!
Most pagans use "spells" as a means of meditation and nothing more. A spell is a little ritual designed to focus your mind and will on achieving a particular goal. They don't really believe that they can wave a magic wand and something spectacular will happen - they believe that the things they achieve are natural acts, but that their spells help them gain the knowledge, concentration, etc. needed to achieve.
That's why the "online spell-selling" thing is so funny to me.
I think most supernatural experiences have an *easy* explanation in science. Those that are not easy to explain away take a little more thinking and research. I think the one constant in this universe is the various principles of physical law - given current evidence and knowledge, I do not see any reason to believe in forces that exist outside of physics, including demons, magic, the afterlife, and gods. :)

Yes. I believe magic works because of my own subjective experiences with it.
Part of those experiences has to do with the nature of magic. the NEED of the caster plays a big part in things. So think on this. If you are paying some stranger to do a spell for you, do you really think it will be YOUR need that is put into that spell?

It depends on what your doing.
You want to control the weather or something that goes against the law of nature and science? Yeah, probably isn't going to work.
You want to change something in your life or circumstances? Sure they work. It can be argued whether its psychological or not, but I've seen some work. Sorta creeped me out a little actually. And I'm pagan! LOL
Larry: Ahh once again willful ignorance raises it ugly head. I bet you buy into conspiracy theories too. Just believe what ever anyone tells you huh? *chuckle* you guys trip me out.

Those websites ARE crap, just like Christian websites cashing in on donating to random people so they'll pray for you. But, properly done, witchcraft CAN work. It's nothing like people think it is, though. It's not just casting some spell and having things happen. It takes years to master, and even then, it's not "Abracadabra" or "Hocus Pocus" crap.

If you come across someone offering to sell you spells, CLICK DELETE. A real Witch wouldn't, and most that offer do only spells for good, like prosperity, happiness, etc.
