I have an Epsom perfection 610 scanner. I've had it for almost 7 yrs. I'm tired of the dust issue. The labor and time of using rubber stamp or noise filters. Now I have an important home project and want the best quality image. I don't really see any easy way to get it apart..and how would I prevent it? Should I just get a new sacnner or does this eventually happen to the best of 'em?
Thanks.

Dont waste time or money on taking it anywhere, these are so cheap anymore, about 50 bucks, you simply get a new one. You can try to pry it apart to clean the inside out but you risk damaging the internal arms and lens alinement. I would just replace it and since you had your first one for 7 years its way over due.

Prevention, you just need to cover it like with a pillow case or a piece of a sheet when not in use. This will prevent dust from getting in it.

Well disconnect the cables and take off the cover. lay a towel an the table. Lay the scanner face down on the table. Remove the screws and open then spray with canned air or vacuum if can blow air. plug the cables in and scan a blank sheet of paper. repeat until clean. Shouldn't take more than a hour if your mechanically inclined or spend the money on a new one
