My lovely little kitty snuck out of the house the other day, unbeknownst to me. Since she came back, I have noticed that she has fleas. What do you recommend to get rid of the fleas?

Anything from a vet - Frontline, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate. You should treat her regularly, because indoor cats still get fleas.

Just don't use anything from a pet store, because these products don't work - pet stores are not licensed to sell the appropriate chemicals for flea treatment. Much of their stuff is dangerous, and none works.

Frontline or Advantage.

Nothing else really works. The first time my cat brought back fleas, we tried the shampoos, and we tried a cheap brand of the medication that gets applied to the neck, and those didn't work at all. Shampooing a cat is no fun, by the way.

Frontline and Advantage are pricey, but they work, and they work WELL.

Stop by your vet and pick up Frontline, Advantage or Revolution for your cat......please don't bother with purchasing from Walmart or Target as the over the counter items don't work. PLEASE DON'T get a Hartz Mountain product, as that could kill your cat......
Follow the directions on the package for application. Make sure it gets put on the skin, not on the fur.

Keep your fingers crossed that you haven't started a flea infestation in your house.....not fun to get rid of, or cheap.

Good luck.

Nip out either to your vet or your nearest Agricultural merchant or you can even apply online to a pets supplier and purchase a pack of 'Frontline' Spot On for cats.
I would use the green packet Frontline 'Combo' as this makes the fleas infertile and so protects your house and furnishings as well as treating the cat.1 pack contains either 3 or 6 pipettes,so will last you either 3 - 6 months.
Apply product to the skin on the back of your cat's neck.

I use advantage. I get it at my vet. It works wonders. It kills fleas and flea eggs in a matter of mintues.
