Required? No. If you're into tradtion, yes. We didn't put an engagement announcement in the paper but we are putting a wedding announcement. We had a very intimate ceremony so the newspaper announcement will serve to inform all those who didn't attend.

No, you don't have to post it in the paper,it's your choice, the reason that people do it is to let anybody that knows them and didn't get an invitation and it is also used buy the Realtor Industry and everybody else in the retail business that caters to newlyweds, they via for your business and there are "perks"for newlyweds also. And put the address that you will be living at and your mail will be flooded with all kinds of deals and perks for newlyweds.

No... it is up to you. It is a nice way to announce to your hometown (for people that are acquaintances and may not get an invite) and usually, it is free to put the minimum information in there. But you don't need to unless you want.

No. Posting your announcement is usually just something the bride (and groom possibly) want to do so others know they are getting married. It's their way of saying, "Hey, I'm getting married."

LOL of course not.

Only if you want to.

We plan on it.

Even if we didn't, I wouldn't fear the Wedding Announcement Police :)

If you would like the world to know you are getting married then spread the joy. However if you don't feel the need to there is nothing saying you have to do it.

No, we didn't. I thought about it, but after realizing that it would cost us about $50.00 to do it, it wasn't worth it to me anymore.

People have engagement parties now that weren't as common back then. That's why they would put it in the paper for everyone to see.
