Could you also tell me how sure you are that it is correct,
Thanks, merci and danke!

If you can't actually say hell in French[i.e. it wouldn't make sense in this question] then what is something I could say with similar meaning?

A literal translation wouldn't make sense in either German or French.
"Qu'est-ce que tu fous?" is pretty much the equivalent in French, and in German you can say
" Was zum Teufel machst du (da)?" Colloquial German has the devil instead of the hell.

my french teacher said that "Qu'est-ce que tu as?" means whats your problem whats wrong with you
and qu'est-ce que tu fait means what are you doing, but maybe if you said it in a mean voice they would understand, lol

The Germans would use "devil" instead of "hell"

Was zum Teufel machst Du ?

Else yours translated: Was zur Hölle machst Du ?

Qu'est-ce que tu fous, (nom de Dieu)?!

There isn't a direct translation in French for how we use 'hell'.

Literally, this means 'What are you fcking, in the name of God?!'

I'm not sure, but I do get yelled at in German a fair bit.

Was in Name des Teufels machen Sie?

Maybe...my neighbours are always careful to use the "polite form" when they yell at me, nice touch, wouldn't you say? If you want I can go use the washing machine (it's not my day) or something and find out for sure...
