I have an approximately 15 year old border collie mix. At her age every day is a gift. Except for deafness and arthritis, she has been very healthy. I just discovered a hard lump, about the size of a quarter, on her chest. She's due for her an annual vet visit in 5 weeks. Should I make it sooner? How much more worried should I be.

Hard to diagnose the growth without an exam. It could be anything from a fatty deposit, to a cyst, to a tumor. If you are concerned, I would make the appointment earlier. I know I would drive myself nuts waiting 5 weeks, so I would schedule an exam as soon as I could. I wish you and your girl the best of luck.

Some of htese are not serious but need to be treated as soon as possible.

I would not take any chances! I would not wait for 5 more weeks, I would take her in as soon as possible. It may be something simple or something more complex, it's hard to say. It's alway's better to be safe than sorry! Good Luck!

It could be a tumor that's either malignant or benign. It could also be a cyst or something else. I would try to get her in earlier.
