I am sure there are many ways of obtaining fake insurance papers, a shady garage being one of them. I would strongly advise against doing anything like that. If you get into an accident and you have falsified your insurance papers, you are going to get caught and punished. It is not worth it. You are breaking the law and you may lose your license for quite a long time. Bite the bullet and do it honestly.

What you are speaking of is a fraudulent letterhead which will certify that you have insurance coverage, if such is needed to obtain license for the vehicle involved. That, itself, is fraud.
Worse yet, if any accident DOES occur, all you have is a fraudulent letter and NO insurance. Don't even consider this.

Well, did you ask her if her insurance covered you before you agreed to drive the car? I'm guessing not. She "authorized" you when she asked you to pick her up. If by "unauthorized driver" the insurance company means only drivers named in the policy are covered, then she should have known that and not placed you in that position.

This sounds very dodgy to me ...never heard of a garage giving insurance..only legit insurance companies...walk away...and take care.

If you buy a car from garage, some of them provide (very) temporary cover - and some others have an arrangement to provide 1 year free insurance with a new car they sell.
But you won't get cover for your own car from them. (Or if you do please send their details to the FSA)

Your friend is obviously a bit shady! You get insurance from insurerers, you get your car fixed at a garage.

What are you looking for, fake insurance documents? They'll be worthless - stop looking for dodges, you'll only screw yourself in the long run.
