my son has been given moped and was told logbook lost, how do I find out if the moped is stolen or who was last registered owner

DVLA cant give you any information of the previous owners or if it was stolen etc due to the Data Protection Act, so that would be a waste of time getting on to them. The police may be able to advise you, but the only thing that you could really do is to apply for a V5 registration certificate and the previous owners details are on there. I hate to say it , but your son really shouldn't have picked up this moped without the V5. If the seller was responsible, then they should have got a new one before selling it.

youcan go to the police to do a check with the registration numberand they can confirm if the bikeis stolen allso you need to apply for a v5 from dvla but will cost about £20
