You may want to read Ted Andrews' book "Animal Speak". I don't tell people what my totems are. They are personal.

Wolf's been in my life since I was very young.

Totemism and animal magic from a neopagan perspective have been at the center of my spirituality for over a decade. I don't see what I'm doing as the same thing Native Americans or any other indigenous cultures are doing; I have my own way of relating to animal totems as archetypal beings that exist independently but also within me.

Just be aware that what you find in books isn't traditional; it's either New Age or neopagan. That doesn't mean it isn't useful; it's just, well, *new*.

If you want to read more, go check out http://www.wildspeak.com which has a good introduction to animal totems. If you're interested in books, I've reviewed the majority of what's currently on the market: http://lupabitch.wordpress.com/category/animal-magic/ And I've written one of my own: http://www.thegreenwolf.com/ffbb.html Also, if you're curious about how I practice, check out http://therioshamanism.com

i've got faith you have as many as you like. there is not any hierarchy to them. Whichever one you ought that may assist you in a particular situation will exchange into greater suitable at that 2nd. you does no longer lose one merely considering you gained a clean one, yet you could lose one considering you now no longer have a want for it. I do have faith in totem animals. I at present have 4 - Crow, Hawk, Wolf, and Horse. i think that your totem is probable a Ram, quite then a sheep. i've got by no potential seen a sheep indexed everywhere by way of fact it is not a solid influential animal. in accordance to my Celtic ideals the Ram represents stability, sacrifice, bounce forward, and fulfillment. it may help save you grounded and could remind you of the needs of existence. Any style of centred meditation can reveal what your animal totems. they're going to reveal themselves with the aid of the years, you merely could be open to them. merely wait and spot, they're going to come to you. i exploit the Druid Animal Oracle enjoying cards to get training from my animals.

Mountain lion was given to me when I participated in a sweat lodge meditation. It's interesting enough, but as plausible as traditional astrology.

I don't know if they are exactly my totem animals, but there are several animals that are special to me: tiger, rhinoceros, crocodile, shark, horse, and hedgehog.
