He ate only a small supper and wouldn't eat any breakfast, which is odd for him. Then, he vomited all over the kitchen floor. He does not have a fever, but he isin't really himself. It is Saturday, so , I can't call my pediatrician, should I take him to the ER, or what. I'm a first time mom and don't know what to do. I'm a little bit scared, this is his first time being sick, other than a cold. What should I do?

Keep him quietish and distracted, with a bucket handy, just allow sips of water, and see what happens. If he's hungry later on, give him a digestive biscuit or some plain cereal or dry toast. Again, see what happens.

IMPORTANT: Don't give him milk or other dairy products for a good couple of days. It sounds like just a bit of a bug, doubt it'll need a doctor. dairy stuff feeds the bad bacteria in the tum. Trust me.

If he gets a bit warm, don't overload him with clothes and don't have the heating up high, he'll be fine in underpants and vest if necessary. You can risk a spoonful of an infant paracetemol suuspension to keep his temp down. Check the brand with your pharmacy.

If he's not right by monday - esp if he's foul tempered and pulling at his ear - it'll be an ear infection. take him to the doc for a mild antibiotic.

My daughter was about that age when she got her first GI upset. Most likely he will vomit the one time, lay around for a few hours, and slowly return to normal. By tomorrow you may find he is eating normally. You should still limit the foods you give him to things that are easy to digest such as bread, rice, banana, applesauce, etc. Go easy on the milk and sugary stuff, but he may be interested in some yogurt.

If he has frequent vomiting with diarrhea (as in several times per hour) you can start to be concerned about dehydration and try giving him some pedialyte solution for rehydration which you can get at the drugstore.

What you can do is stop giving him solid food, and give him clear liquids in small amounts for the next little while. Try pedialyte, that will help keep him hydrated. You don't need to take him to the ER if he just vomited once. All you can really do is keep an eye on him to make sure he isn't getting dehydrated, and give him liquids.

He probably has just a little stomach virus. Just try to keep him comfortable today and give him lots of fluids like pedilyte to keep him hydrated. They have a medicine called Little Tummys at Walmart it helps with nausea. Ginger ale also calms the stomach to. If he gets worse later on then or starts to run a fever then take him to the ER.

He probably just has his first stomahc flu if he has no fever then he should be ok. Just keep himdrinking fluids and make sure he is wetting his diapers if he stops wetting call the doctors answering service and they will contact your dr. Let him lounge around today and drink pedyalite and watch movies enjoy his slower pacet oday and show him how much mommy loves him and will take care of himwhen he is ill. This is a bonding moment in a childs life. Good Luck and I hope he feels better soon.

Babies through up. Its just what they do- they dont need a major reason to do so.

My thought would be he's getting some molars in and its upset him. Or he might have a little virus. Has he hit his head very hard recently? To the point that he has a goose egg.. I mean within the last 24 hours. That might cause him to throw up... and that would warrant a trip to the Er.

Keep him hydrated, offer him easy to eat things like crackers and plain cereals. He has no fever, so he should be fine.

Like I said, little kids throw up- its just what they do.

He_knows is right. You don't need to do anything yet. Just keep him hydrated and try to get him to eat a little when he feels up to it. Keep it simple stuff like bananas, soup, and toast - things that won't give his stomach extra reason to revolt. Also watch out for diarreah. Really the only bad thing that can hurt him is the dehydration. If he can't keep any fliuds (like plain water) down within a couple of hours then you might want to take him just to see if he needs an IV. If he gets worse then consider going.

It's only serious if they keep vomiting.
gastro is common with babies.
