I know they have them in bigger cities where there is a Korean population; how do you think they would go over in a town of 10-20 thousand people where there is no exposure to Korean culture?
Many bars have karaoke, but people usually get up and sing only one song. I am talking about full Korean style. You, some friends, some booze, a few thousand songs, and a private singing room.

I've thought about this before and I think they could work. I don't want to go into great detail because I still might try it someday.

I think the rooms would work best in the beginning as additions to bars that already have karaoke. It would take some investment to construct the rooms and buy some additional equipment, but I think it could pay off in the end.

Many of my friends who I used to go to karaoke nights with were too shy to sing in front of the entire bar, so the privacy of the rooms could be a selling point (possibly for issues other than just singing).

Bars are always looking for ways to bring in more people and this could be an additional selling point. After gaining popularity in bars, then the entrepreneur could expand to other avenues.

Are you going to get a no rae bang business when you go back to home country? :) I hope this question is not confined to US people.

As far as singing is concerned, I am sure no rae bang will work in US. Because everyone, except me, likes singing and dancing with some alcohol regardless of culture. However, I think Korean style no rae bang won't become a hit. If no rae bang is changed to American style, it will work. Of course, huge amound of efforts including maeketing will be needed in order to achieve success in this business.

Oops, I can not think of this matter in detail because I am not an American. I am regretting starting to write. =P

Cheers
Enjoy Korea
