The term "rapture", and most of the popular ideas associated with it, arose out of the dispensational and millenarian (Adventist) movements of the mid to latter 19th century. That suggests that the idea of a "rapture," especially the idea of a "secret" rapture, is far more historically and culturally conditioned then it is a biblical or theological truth. The biblical references, that are most used to support a rapture do not clearly support the idea at all. They all firmly support a "second coming" (whatever form that might take), a Resurrection, and a Judgment, all without giving any solid details about any of them.

I think the biblical, answer is, we do not know. We do know "That our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place." I'm perfectly happy with that.

Why sure! The rapture of the church is an exciting event. Those who are saved will be rescued from the wrath of God on this earth. This stupid world will think aliens have came that's how little they read God's word.
Read Thess. it will explain .And the bible also says "We shall not all sleep" ( means to die ).
People waited for hundreds of years for Jesus and he came. The church is waiting on the return of Jesus - he will come.
I would suggest your heart be ready to meet the Savior - instead of wondering if he really is coming- either way your ready !

gotta love someone who presents a quote 1900 years old saying that it is going to happen in this generation (meaning the quotee's generation) as proof of the immediacy of the event.

My dearly loved brother prays for my eternal soul because of my clear disbelief, so I figger I am covered either way. It has made for a few interesting Thanksgivings, having a fundamentalist christian and a disbelieving geologist in the same room.

You people here are amateurs by comparison lol. (no offense intended, I am sure many of you could match him if given the time and the space).

The rapture has not happened YET....Because He wants all you foolish atheists and non- believers to REPENT...and get saved !!!!

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Since the word 'rapture', nor the idea, is found in the Bible, its going to be a long wait!

Funny thing with the rapture - there's really no point in waiting for it if you're not ready!

And it will not come today.

Uncle Thesis ... The concept is in the scriptures.

1Thessalonians 4:16-17
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 ... Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Paul ... How can you use the name of Paul and ignore what he taught?

There will never be a rapture. It is all myth from some self proclaimed 'holy' book. Simple as that, no more explaination required.

If you take the time to study the ancient religions which cristianity was plaguised from, then you will see that the "return" of jesus is nothing more than a metaphore for the sun rising each morning !

there's only one sign before the Lord comes

The Great Tribulation

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Matthew 24:21

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Matthew 24:22

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Matthew 24:29

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Matthew 24:30
