Honestly? No.

It is also very similar with dog breeds. Two dogs of the same breed, even from the same litter can be totally different!

Adopt a cat from the shelter. It is a lot cheaper, you are giving a cat a second change at a home, and if you get a cat (at least 1 year of age), you will have a good idea on what their personality will be. Are they a cuddle bug? or do they prefer to be alone? Cats don't really settle into their personality until they get a bit older, and you can never tell what you will get with a kitten.

Silver tabby is a color, not a breed. You can get a plain old domestic shorthair tabby from the shelter.

Just looks like a good old fashioned moggy!

"Breeds" are not just the colour of a cat and you are right - cats from the same litter have completely different personalities - just like humans!

Some breeds do have certain "qualities" that are common to them - Siamese tend to be very nosey and talk a lot - they also tend to become very feiendly.
Persians are generally lazier than amny.
But by far the majority of cats you can adopt and not pay an absolute fortune for are just plain old Heinz 57 moggies!

Its just a normal moggy the equiverlant to a mongrel dog. These are generally the easiest to look after, they dont really need grooming or anything just food, love and somewhere to go to the loo either a litter tray or the outside world. The main difference between breed of cats is the different levels of care they need, also some tend to be more friendly than others. but there are always exceptions!

I've found, after having a few different breeds of cats, that siamese are the noisiest cats ever! And they are quite vicious towards other ones, if you have two they are even worse.

Go to your pet rescue centre and adopt a moggy.

Yes. It does. Some breeds are a little more aggressive, some breeds are lazy, some are good with kids, some just don't do anything at all. I would go with the kitten that best fits your personality.

different breeds do have very different personality traits, but that shouldn't really affect your choice in adopting a kitten as i think it is very much its surroundings that influence a cats behaviour. ragdolls are suppost to be very loving, but surely every cat is if you feed him! if you want a silver tabby cat get one - if you love him/her she will love you back just as much! - ps not sure about your friends cat - looks like a normal cat to be, not any specfic breed - lovely still!

it depends on what sort of cat you want. I mean say....

you want a friendly , playful, cuddly cat then go for the Burmese.

if you want a big show cat go for the ragdoll.
I mean ragdolls are actually Burmese because thats what was bred in them.

Ragdolls are perfect. I mean every cat or animal has somebody to love at one stage.

The cat that your friend's cat looks like isn't a breed, it's a regular mog (crossbreed) - tabby and white colour.

No breeds don't matter. All cats are individuals. Don't expect whichever one you get to conform to the breed description of its personality!

You're best off going to a shelter to meet a few cats, and choosing one who's personality you like.

I think people who go specifically for breeds are not real animal lovers, they are hypocrites who just want to show off.
Especially for dog lovers, most of them won't keep a dog that's missing a leg. I dun think they are fit to be dog lovers. They are just hypocrites.
So to answer your question, breed is not important.

The cat in the picture is a mongrel. It's of no particular breed. Just a regular shorthair, white color with striped patches.
