i have started a new course of citalopram and in the beginning i totally lose my appetite and lose weight, i have never really been on them long enoughto establish whether appetite loss is an ongoing thing. how have anti - depressants effected your appetite short and long term?

Some antid's can cause you to gain weight. If you feel this is your case, ask your doctor for one without this side effect.

The answer is yes and no, Citalopram can coz you to gain weight, it depends on your metabolism. Alot of anti-depressants can coz weight gain. I am on Lexapro and it sure does. I know Effexor can too. As for the rest I do not know for sure, those are the only ones I am sure of.
