Really it is going to depend on what an airline wants to use the aircraft for as far as type of routing and how many passengers they want or need to carry. Once they have that figured out they will choose the set-up that best suits them.

Neither aircraft _is_ anything except a lot of hard work yet, but the 787 will fly long before the A350.
The A350 is larger and more powerful with a range of seating options in the three models from 270 to 412 compared to 210-330 for the 787. Maximum weights range from 540-650,000lb compared to 364 to 540 for the 787. Engine thrust varies from 74-92,000lb.st per engine compared to 53-70,000lb.st for the 787.
Better? I don't think there's enough information available to the public to judge. The A350 is really competing with the B777 and Boeing doesn't have an option for a modern aircraft in that class. The 787 competes with the capacity of the 767, A300, A330 and smaller A340s.
Which is more successful by 2020 will be a question of how the world economy turns out and how many people want to fly. Boeing is betting fewer people will want to fly to more places, Aiurbus is betting more people will want to fly to big places. I expect Airbus is right.
If someone gave me a 787 or an A350 I'd be dleighted either way ;-)
DS has been in an A350 on the ground? I'm sure that will be a huge surprise to Airbus since they haven't built one yet!

Better, i don't know, both aren't in service yet but are having really good sales.
Larger. the Airbus A350 is based on replacing 777's, so its bigger than the 787, thats for sure.
Powerful, since its bigger, it'd need for power in its engines i guess, so you can say the A350 is more powerful.

I have always prefered Boeing but I feel the Airbus A350 is more stonger and powerful than the 787 but I think the 787 is better

The A350 has yet to be finalised. The 787 is only now starting to get off the line. It's very hard to determine which is better in 2 aircraft that havent even seen service.

airbus 350
thrust: 95,000 lb
seating typical: 350
range carrying max load: 8000 nautical miles
max takeoff weight: 650.4000 lbs
max speed: .89 M
cruise speed: .85M
boeing 787
thrust/lots of engines availible: between 53000 and 70000 lbs
typical seating: various models, between 290 and 330
range with max load; 2500 to 8500 various models
max takeoff weight: 364000 to 540000 various models
max speed: .85M
---------------------------------------------------------
max takeoff weight can be used to determine wing strength
tables and performance values cannot determine in entirety which is better but gives a rather good summary.
there are other features for both aircraft such as the engine interchangeability on the 787 and the increased quietness on the 350.*
*this is compared to the 767 which was the plane the 350 was designed to compete against.
-------------------------personal opinion-----------------------
I always liked boeing products more. but, with time, I have gotten used to side-stick and computerized cockpit interfacesof the airbus machines.
I have been in the cockpit of an 350 while it was on the ground and well, i have to admit, its ok.
never been on a 787 for obvious reasons.
but comparing it to the 767(the plane 350 was designed to compete against) which i have also been on, i have to say i'm going with the airbus 350
-its quieter
-abit more room
-newer
-seems more gentle but i guess its just perception
-cockpit is better than 767
