NASCAR 's car of tomorrow will all be the same. for safety reasons, they have been working on this for about 7-8 years now. Car companys pay big bucks to have there cars in NASCAR, they want them to look a little like the real thing. since all manufacturers have different cars-you get different sizes. They all have to fit within the same size box that NASCAR has for cars. It's something like a 8x10 picture sheet you can have the sheet but nothing but the sheet.

The Nascar Template rules set for Dodge is different than Chevy is different from Ford is different from Toyota and so on. The governing body makes little Changes like this when the teams complain that a certain Manufacturer has a wind tunnel or aerodynamic advantage. This is there way of trying to Level the playing field.. Differences on other Body panels also--Nose Pieces--Valance panels and so on!!!!

They are all the same width. On some TVs the car nearest the far right or far left of the screen appear wider but they are not.

A wider car would be of great benefit on shorter tracks. Nascar measures the width to be sure it is to their specification.

NASCAR cars have to be the silhouette of the car they are supposed to be e.g. a Ford Taurus. Width doesn't come into that equation.

Your probably looking at the old COY or Twisted Sister car. The templates are not as restrictive as the new COT car.

This is also why is it called by some the twisted sister car, and these adjustments are an advantage.
