I have a 4 bed family-type home that i am re-decorating. The family bathroom has the airing cupboard and hot water tank in it. We are due to replace the whole bathroom suite but wondered whether it would be worth getting rid of the tank, getting a combi boiler and having a seperate shower cubicle? Is having a shower over the bath off putting to family buyers? I haven't got a family so would appreciate the comments. I am wondering whether it will be worth all the mess etc.?

If your bathroom has the space it is a modern luxury to have a separate shower stall and the tub area open (usually a jacuzzi tub), but many showers are over the tub.

I love having a separate shower. I wouldn't even consider buying a house that didn't have one. It's a pain to have to climb over the side of a tub to take a shower, and how do you install a seat in a tub with a shower?

And, any potential buyers that are elderly, disabled, or have children would appreciate a separate shower. They are so much easier to get in and out from.

having recently purchased a house and watching a lot of DIY Network, you should have a master suite in the house with it's own bathroom (including a tub ideally). If you have that, having another bathroom with just a shower would be fine.
