Understatement would be the better option for the opposite of the word exaggerate....
Depreciate, Play down, Minimize, reduce are the other antonyms.........

You could look at this two ways, but first need to define exaggerate - attesting to attributes not actually possesed by subject. (lying) / (+4)

Opposite could be honestly representing subject "define" (not lying) /(0)

Opposite could also be "ommit" , "downplay", "understate" or FAILING to attest to some of the attributes actually present in subject. (also lying) / (-4)
