If so, what will happen to our culture?

Your accent has nothing to do with your culture. By reducing your accent, you will be better understood, get better jobs, and generally be better off. You can be fluent in two or more languages and still have your true culture inside of you.

I personally love foreign accents. So long as people can understand easily what you're saying, I see no reason to attempt to get rid of your accent altogether. A reduced accent would probably be beneficial as the first poster pointed out.

I admire people who speak my language, without a flaw, even maybe with the refinement that you get through literature which has been often your access path to the language -

sometimes strangers speak better than me - and this is how ad why I can really appreciate - furthermore if their accent is beautiful, why should I complain ?

Once I was in the lift, in the place where I work - a man, obviously lebanese spontaneously spoke with me , and his french was so beautiful - he was so oriental and educated and told me " I'm just sorry for my accent " and I told him
" Sir your accent sounds to me like a nice regional accent "
( which clearly meant "you're with us" ) and I saw that my words had really touched him.

It helps people understand you but some foreign accents make English sound very lyrical. It's nothing to do with your culture. If you are bothered about that stay put.

Oh, English is spoken by so many people with so many accents, as long as you learn to use your words right, and don't mispronounce them too badly, I don't see why you should attempt to get rid of your accent. Unless you wish to blend in seamlessly in a country where English is the official language, of course.

If English is not your native tongue, you will always have an accent. It will always show that you are a foreigner and you are speaking English. How many Brits or Americans speak a second language. This has nothing to do with any culture...........
