Definitely yes. Just think about your birth. Where did you come from ? You may simply say, from your dad & mom, But from where did they get the strength to produce you. So you are nothing but food. In another way round when you born you are a very small child. Now you are a grown up and from where did you get all this physique and brain power it is
nothing but food.
Look at the nature, the ferosious animals like Lion, tiger are non-veg eaters and then to they eat only veg eating animals like deer, cow etc. In the contrary veg eating animals are calm. Please note Elephant is pure veg eating animal and stronger than non-veg eating animals. .

Anil,
Yes it most certainly does; and in quite dramatic ways.
Tea and coffee contain caffeine and thiobromine; which are powerful mind stimulants.
On holiday in the South of France once I had a small cup of expresso coffee in a beach cafe . It was a hot stifling afternoon; but after half an hout I felt a real "buzz." Many years later I read that it takes 30 mins for caffeine to get from the bloodstream into the brain.
Alcohol and "drug" mushrooms are clear instances of foodstuffs affecting the brain.
Also, doctors now believe that a diet with high sugar content can be a factor in causing depression; as the sugar helps the brain to produce the mood substance Serotonin; and ultimately this will adversely affect the Serotonin balance in the brain.
Brain food is easy to plan because, fortunately a healthy balanced diet with lots of fibre, fruit & vegetables; and less sugar and salt is good for our brains as well as our bodies.
The "old wive's tale" about fish being good for the Brain is true also; as fish oils help to form membranes in nerve cells.
Hope this helps to answer your question!!!

Absolutely! That's why I worry about vegetarians, because you need real protein to run a brain well. And certain foods have other influences, as well. Since chocolate is an aphrodisiac, Alice B. Toklas brownies are double effective. Sugar has a great deal to do with the metabolic ups and downs that effect the mind. And vitamins are important, but I confess that I don't have the details, I just take what My Steve taught me to take.

Sure it does. I have seen you received a lot of answers so a lot must have been already said. This is just to give you an example. You know that Karma influences us. Besides the physical elements in the food we eat there is also Karma. If i pay for a food item which is produced by someone who is abused, used, disrespected and has to give up virtues and values in doing that piece of food .... everything is transmited to me when i pay for it. Same is for everything i pay no matter if i eat it or not. When the food is produced in wrong feelings and attitude i eat that with the food and when it is produced with love, care and purity - i eat that too.

Yes. I like the answers of so many before me. Although I have recently been around the Adventist I like their emphasis on food. They can go overboard and also be hypocritical like serving only vegetarian food at church functions and eating meat in their homes, but they live longer and yes I would agree they are more even tempered. I read the book eating for your blood type and I should eat more vegetables less meat. I notice a difference when I do this. The Book of Daniel in the Bible suggests yes.

Yes, we owe a large part of what we are to what we put in our bodies. The brain is like any other organ in our bodies, it has nutritional requirements. If we fail to provide what it needs it does not function at a high level. This is why students taking a test will often eat a meal high in sugar to give their brains a boost before a test. Glucose helps the brain to function better. The body recognizes any carb like bread or pasta as sugar. Our bodies (and the mind is part of the body) is like an auto, it needs fuel to run. The higher the quality of the fuel.....the better the performance and efficiency of the different parts of the body. The wrong type of fuel can cause parts of a car to malfunction or stop functioning. So can the wrong type of fuel to the human body!

Interestingly this is touched upon briefly in the Eat Right for your Blood Type research, in that the different blood types evolved around the planet, through agriculture and temperment. O blood types, for example trace back to nomadic folks in the north who ate what moved and never developed plants and livestock due to the nature of their existence and their geography, while A blood types developed around the mediteranean and do best with goat dairy, vegetables and grains.
Clearly we see differences in temperment in different groups as well as differences in their diet - but I imagine it would be difficult to prove it, because you can not start at a base person. An O blood type requires the protein to run properly, based upon enzymes, etc. required to digest the diet that works best for them. To change the O to the diet of an A, would be hard because the physical health would be altered and it would be impossible to determine if it was the shift in health or change in diet that changed the subject mind or disposition.
As an O blood type myself, I have seen myself and O sisters get depressed if we do not get enough protein in our diet - and nut protein can only go so far. When we get depressed, we need a burger or steak.
Peace!

I don't know about the Mind but it has an effect on our brain and rightly so, due to it's constitution in terms of nutrients.Veg/non veg also effect differently for the same reasons.

The nutrients in all foods influence the brain as more nutrient rich foods give the brain more nutrients to run off of...
However I think you are asking more along the lines of foods that have a chemical which effects the brain such as chocolate... Eating chocolate influences the pleasure center of the brain... There are other foods that effect other areas of the brain...
