Rest is the best medicine. As for the sore troat pain, I've used Chloroseptic which numbs your troat. It is temporary. If a cough is causing the pain, try cough medicines like Robotussin or NyQuil...

There seems to be a lot people with a persistent cold/flu this year. If you aren't better soon, call the doctor back.

Chicken soup or other warm liquids will soothe your throat also.

Most cases of sore throat are viral and will subside in a few days. A rapid strep test can determine if streptococcus is the cause and if antibiotics are necessary.

A sore throat that persists may be due to infectious mononucleosis. Having both strep and mono at the same time is not uncommon.

One overlooked bacterium is Arcanobacter hemolyticum which can cause an exudative tonsillitis similar to that seen in strep and in mono. Penicillin is not very effective, but the macrolides are (erythromycin, clarithromycin, etc.) A. hemolyticum is more common in teen agers.

You should lay off of the Tylenol for a few days and get an antiseptic throat spray and gargle with warm salt water. Taking Tylenol longer than a week causes the liver to become toxic.

do you have a cold or seasonal allergies? it could be postnasal drip. i know from personal experience how much that can hurt, and i myself take tylenol for it. the solution would be to get at the root of the problem. try an over-the-counter decongestant if you don't have any contraindications. just ask your pharmacist. i myself love mucinex b/c i can't do regular decongestants.

Liquid Benadryl or any generic of it. I know it sounds weird but it works amazingly well. Just gargle it then spit
