I see it as a lesson in understanding truth in art as opposed to having a belt and/or certificate that is supposed to give an idea of a level of achievement.

In other words... don't judge anyone by the belts, dan/levels or documents.

Commit to taking a journey lead by a persons level of understanding, the color of his/her character and the imprint of the skill they help you attain.

I recon he meant that he has mastered the style and now the canvas is clean for him to do what he pleases and that his path has just begun, there is nothing more the teacher can teach him, it is up to him to pave his own road from now on

he was probably saying that no person ever TRULY attains perfection, and you don't need a certificate to show that you are a master. the way you carry yourself, your attitude, and other things are more than enough to prove you're a master. you can tell someone is a master before they tell you.
