Wraith said it best, You stand a better chance of dying while shopping on the day after Thanksgiving! (Those crowds scare me!)
In Iraq, most of the bad guys are cowards. They go for the easy targets. The trick is to NOT be the easy target, and most infantry soldiers fall into the "not easy" category.

Since I have been an Army wife 4+yrs I have known 38 Infantry soldiers to be killed in war. Many where from Alaska, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virgina. Its sad that most were under 21yrs of age. If you are in great shape, have training, and understand the meaning of fighting for your freedom then you will do well. Death comes when its your time you cant hide from it. Good Luck

In the twentieth century, the chances of an infantryman involved in a war getting killed or wounded were better that two to one. The good news is more got wounded than killed.

There is no way to give you a real number for this...for all the men who have died...their chance was 100%. For you it could be different.

why are you planning on joining the military to become an infantry man?
you're chances of dying here stateside in some freak accident is higher then being an infantry soldier...
like my dad(retired infantry officer) says it's not the bullet with his name on it he was worried about it's the one that says "to whom it may concern"...
