What is a possible solution to the immigration problem??

1) Allow and encourage Mexico to create an economic environment that does not force them to become migrant workers in order to feed their families.

2) Stop flooding Mexican markets with U.S. products that undercut their ability to sustain their own microeconomies. When people can't work, they can't eat, and can't live, become desperate, and jump borders.

3) Create economic and political incentives for Mexico to educate its children in rural areas, so that they can use it to provide for their families in a period of rapid technological advancement.

4) Empower and educate Mexican women. With men still expected to bring home a big chunk of the pay, and with women sticking to tradition and having lots of babies, there aren't a lot of opportunities for women to contribute heavily to the family income. Empowerment and education will help take the pressure off of the men, who otherwise resort to border jumping to bring in some sort of income.

Example: Oaxaca is one of the most populated areas in Mexico, and it is by far the poorest. Whereas they used to sustain their small farms and get by, they cannot compete with cheap imports now that the American Free Trade Agreements championed by elder Bush and Clinton have removed all protective tariffs.

#1. Mexico is a wealthy country. It believes in the trickle down theory of economics, and money provided as aid does not wind up in the peoples hands.. it winds up the hands of the corrupt. Corruption harms the people, and will continue to harm the country. Most of the suggestions up above don't work because that corruptions is very pervasive, and it must be cured before mexico can do well.

#2. We need a President that enforces the law. Currently, Mr. Bush won't enforce the law, and the consequences are going to be staggering in the long run. We must enforce the law.. we are not enforcing the law.

#3. We have magnets for the illegal aliens called scantuary cities, scantuary states. Governor Huckabee essentially opened Arkansaw up to illegal aliens who would work in their chicken plucking factories. The illegal aliens come and work in those factories while collecting social welfare provided by the the Local Government, the State Government, and the Federal Government. If the employers in Arkansaw paid wages to American Citizens that were considered living wages, they would get American Citizen to work in those factories.. and they have not paid those wages. So close any and all illegal sancturay entitees, pay a living wage and the immigration problem will solve itself.

4. President Clinton and President Bush cut the funding for the illegal aliens. The new model P.C.'s have excellent programs and the Mexicans discovered they could forge any and all documents made in this country. Those two forces opened the border and the solution must be to fund the Border Patrol and implement secure identification as quickly as possiable.

It would seem the President put the National Guard on the border and pulled it because it was doing well. It would seem the Senate passed the 'Real I.D.', and that program won't be introduced in full, and where it will be introduced, it won't be sufficent to provide protection from forged documents.

We shall see, and in the meantime, the Democrats cut the funding from the fence. That fence can be looked at in the Yahoo search engine, and you will discover it works very well.

There is no immigration problem. There is an illegal alien problem. Anyone who hires an illegal alien should have a fine and or jail time, and the illegal should be sent back home after a fine. Also, we should make it easier for non-criminal Mexican citizens to come to America legally. They should not have advantages that American citizens don't have, and should not get government assistance until they've paid in like everybody else. Most would be willing to pay into the system by working legally and would/do make great citizens of the U.S.

forget about it. seriously, the government has had laws and does not enforce them we will become the north american union like the european union. that is why they have not done anything about it,or penalized corporations that hire illegals.corporate greed is more important than taking care of america. they are outsourcing jobs all the time. if they really wanted to do something about it the government would put its money where its mouth is. the corporations like the cheap labor, to heck with the average taxpayer.

don't know cuz if we out source to their country that still takes our jobs.if we legalize everyone every thing will be as it is now cuz they are already here right?make it less $ to get a visa/green card.its 1,500 to sneak over and 5,000 or more to come on visa/green card(from Mexico).they need to make their countries better.we are not the answer to everyones problem and we need to stop acting like we are the hero to all.we cant save everyone ,especially since we have our own problems here.how can we fix others problems when we cant fix our own?

invest in mexico, open some companies over there, bring some factories there, still pay them shitt, well over there is ok for them, and then they will stop immigrating in hugh numbers, close the border and legalizzze those who are already here,, due that most of them do jobs americans wont anyway
