I have chronic depression. Last week I came off Lexapro after 2 years and onto Lovan / Prozac which as far as I can tell has NOT kicked in. I am depressed teary bascially cant work, everything irritates me, Im bitchy and hostile. I cant keep going like this...How long til the Lovan works? I think I am experiencing the withdrawal from Lexapro... so Im thinking I should just go back onto the Lexapro... but what if the Lovan kicks in and will eventually make me better than the Lexapro did? I dont know what to do......If anyone has experiences with these two medications please share.... the world has collapsed on me.

It is best to be in the hospital during changes in meds. Prozac made me hostile. I told my doctor and he took me off of it that day. Beware of prozac. Call your doctor as soon as possible and tell him of these symptoms or either go to the Emergency Room if you have no other choice.

This is a symptom of hormonal imbalance.

Read the post by me (first link, answer 2). It is on birth control pills but it applies to you.

If your main problem is low thyroid, the second link has the best thyroid docs by state. You want one that goes by symptoms not blood test

Take a nice deep breath[boring but it works], say a prayer, and write your feelings in a journal. Have a good doctor and tell him everything Sometimes talking is what we need. Time and doc help. Sometimes it takes two or three weeks to reach a therapeutic level of a new medication. You should definitely talk to the doctor who prescribed these medications for you before making any changes in your dosing.

Medications are only a band aid to a spiritual problem. Turn your life over to Jesus Christ and He will help you through the root causes of your depression. I know this from first hand experience. I was once chronically depressed. But Jesus has healed me...without ANY meds! Check out www.NeedHim.org
