dogs have these anal glands that need to be expressed every so offtened and this will cause irritation and discharge if you do not see any worms then there are no worms but she does have to have them emptied so you can take her to the vet or the groomers and they will do it for you i think that the groomers will be cheaper in price

She could any number of things going on including the items mentioned above. My lab does it constantly and it is a direct and indirect result of allergies. She itches initially because of the allegies, gets that area wet and it gets into the folds of her skin. Then that area starts to gro bacteria and the like giving her a pretty bad rash.
A vet trip is a must because there are some really significant things that could be causing the problem

If she's licking more than dogs normally do, take her to the vet. The discharge doesn't sound too good...

Her anal glands are either impacted or infected or both, I would lean towards the infection since it's red, first off, STOP her licking and as soon as possible, TOMORROW go to either your vet or the groomer to have them expressed if you cant get to the vet go monday and have them checked and get her on antibiotics. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not let her lick it anymore. My friends dog licked hers and they ruptured in her face the infection got in her nose and mouth and made her VERY ill, so do your best to keep her from licking it or she could become extremely sick. I had never heard of that before but apparently it can happen and it sounds like your dog is a prime canditate for this to happen, if you have to fashion a cone collar or something to keep her from doing it.

I would say your dog is self medicating and cleaning. She wanted it clean so it won't get infected. One case that I can think of though, especially if your dog isn't fix, is maybe she's ovulating. It's a normal process that dogs go through.
You've got all the brightest idea and advice ahead of me, so I thought I'll give you another scenario. Good luck with your dog.

She could have hot spots, if she is a retriever or lab this happens more often. She may need a steroid shot to stop the itching and hence relieve the irritation she will continuously cause herself to have. It is a vicious cycle once they start to lick because it makes it more itchy. Or she may have worms but a vet would be the best idea at this point in time to get a proper diagnosis

Take her to the vet. It could be worms, but it could be pyometra, a serious infection for females that can be treated easily if diagnosed early, but it can be lethal if not diagnosed early. If your dog is spayed it can't be pyometra though.

she's licking because there is a discharge. she needs to go see the vet. it can be anything from simply needing her anal glands done, to an anal gland abcess, urinary tract infection, vaginal infection, etc... only a vet is going to be able to tell you what it is and fix the problem. her behind is red because she's been licking it and it's irritated. the sooner you get her to the vet the sooner she'll feel better.

If your dog is older than 6-10 months of age and has not been spayed she could be in heat. If she has been spayed...you probably need to see a doctor this sounds like and infection in that case.
