Because, it gives one an option to leave the car parked. And call a cab.Or have a sober friend drive a friend home.

For those of us who only stop for a beer or two.
The people who stay & close the bar should take a cab & leave their car parked.

Because you'd be REALLY cold sleeping on the ground in the parking lot...your car is probably far more comfortable.

Because drinking and driving isn't illegal. Drinking (too much) and driving IMPAIRED is illegal.

All states have their own blood alcohol content (BAC) limit. In general, it works out to be about 3 drinks for an adult male is the limit. Otherwise, you are probably safe to drive.
